SOLUTION EXAMPLES
Project requirements included the construction of a repository for subsequent multiple phases for mine waste and spoil cleanup projects. The repository was built with imported Bentonite over a cleaned bedrock surface. The mine reclamation areas were covered with onsite borrow soils modified with imported approved Department of Agriculture compost. The reclaimed areas were restored with fertilizer, seed and straw mat.
Belair installed 1” and 2” PVC pipe which was connected to 14 soil vents and connected to 19 air sparge points. All pipes were installed between 3’ to 4’ below grade. Belair installed four 8” HDPE conduits beneath the street to allow for system pipes to extend to the north side of the road. Extensive potholing was required prior to beginning the pipe trenching activities.
Project Facts:
6,000 linear feet of 2” schedule 40 PVC pipe was installed and connected to the soil vents.
5,500 linear feet of 1” schedule 80 PVC pipe was installed and connected to the air sparge points.
2,300 linear feet of pipe trench was installed.
All work was performed around multiple high profile gas, power and fiber optic lines.
Belair was scored with an “A” rating for safety performance.
Belair was contracted to dredge contaminated sediments and soils. Slopes were up to 45 feet above the bottom of the excavation, and soils were stabilized with Portland Cement prior to loading into Off-Road Trucks. Soils were transported to a staging area and reloaded into On-Road trucks for disposal at subtitle-D landfill.
Several pipeline crossings were engineered, constructed and maintained to allow normal facility operations. The project included treatment of impacted waters and storm-water management.
Belair provided an engineered slope evaluation for compliance with safety regulations along with several Job Hazard Analyses and a Site Health and Safety Plan.
